Venue: Sirifort Auditorium
Date: 13 October, 2016

The International Ethnic Folklore Festival was a celebration of folk and tribal dances from all over the world. Organised by NGO Shrustii Multicultural Centre, hundreds of artists from different parts of the world came together for this 6-day celebration of dance, culture, and harmony. The event was held at Sirifort Auditorium which is a very suitable venue for large-scale programs – film festivals, stand-up comedies, and popular theatre.

Along with India, we managed to watch some performances from Iran, Kazakhstan, and Singapore. Most of the folk dances were about folk tales, good harvest, pleasant season, friendship, patriotism, and love & romance. The costumes of the artists were as beautiful and colorful as their performances. Singers and musicians from the respective countries accompanied the dancers who performed on live music and singing. This enhanced the experience of the audience manifold who were spellbound by the novelty of singing, music, and dances that were presented to create this spectacular show.

Thanks to the International Ethnic Folklore Festival, Delhiites got a taste of the rich culture and tradition of many big and small countries.

We look forward to many more such events in Delhi NCR.

‘Night, Mother, a play directed by Vamika Sachar, has been adapted from a Pulitzer prizewinning drama by Marsha Norman. It deals with some difficult issues that we face, directly or vicariously. Given the heavy topic of the play, we were skeptical about the treatment. All we knew was that we had to watch it.
