While most of India performs Lakshmi Puja on Diwali, this evening is celebrated as Kali Puja in Eastern Indian states, namely, West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Assam. The Kali form of Shakti is worshipped at home, in temples or in makeshift marquees.

Kali Puja this year will be celebrated on the eve of Diwali, that is, 10th November evening. There are manyKali Pujas organised in the NCR region. There are quite a few dedicated temples for Goddess Kali in the NCR where this Puja is celebrated. Additionally, like Durga Puja, various neighborhoods or Bengali associations celebrate community Kali Puja in and around Delhi. This is a bright and happy event, albeit a bit somber when the actual Puja is taking place. The celebration also involves crackers, lights and mostly culminates with partaking “Bhog” (community meal).
