The Ashoka Hotel is like a formidable den – you come here for stiffy – serious events. But it has upped its cool quotient with a new pub and lounge LITHIYUM CLUB.

We were invited for the launch recently and given the glowing signage outside, this place was not difficult to locate. It is a huge space with a dance floor, a big bar and dining area. It was dark inside – with discotheque lighting – and the cool ambiance was de-stressing.

Satbhi Basu, the celebrity bartender, who also holds the record for being the first woman bartender in India, was handling the bar. On our request, she made some excellent coffee based cocktails for us. We had this with the vegetarian pizza and some finger food that were being circulated. While there were few non-vegetarian snacks, wonder why they did not think of having any chicken pizza. Nonetheless, the service guys here are extremely patient and hospitable and they serve with a smile. The bartenders are equally friendlyforthcoming.

Hospitality is what makes or breaks a place and given the excellent service, we think LITHIYUM CLUB deserves a shot.
