Hindi film by Rajkumar Hirani
Venue: PVR Sahara Mall, Gurgaon
Date: 23 December 2014
The level of creativity and originality in PK is as small as the name of the film and as plastic as Anushka’s lip job.
The film is heavily inspired (read lifted) from the Paresh Rawal film “OMG – Oh My God”. Oh My God was a great film and we don’t see why someone would try to make another film on the same lines, and that too, such a bad copy.
PK deals with an alien who comes to earth and loses his connect with his planet. In his bid to find his way back home, he learns about human beings, their faiths, god men and the superstitions.
Questioning god and god men has been done beautifully in Oh My God. The fantastic court room drama of that film has been replaced by a TV show in PK.
Paresh Rawal, as a protagonist, was miles ahead of Amir Khan. Amir Khan disappoints with his acting and so does Anushka.
Barkha Dutt would not have inspired so many girls to become reporters as much as she has inspired Bollywood directors to copy her hairstyle for female TV reporters. From Lakshya’s Preity Zinta to PK’s Anushka, their hangover with Barkhas’s haircut continues.
Apart from the lead pair, the characters of the other artists are not properly developed. Be it Sushant Rajput or Sanjay Dutt or even Parikshit Sahni, nobody leaves any impression. Boman Irani is to Rajkumar Hirani what Kajol is to Karan Johar. He doesn’t have much to do in the film apart from being the lucky mascot.
We liked what they shot in famous Delhi places like Delhi Haat, Metro Walk mall, Connaught place, Humayun’s tomb etc
Music is mostly boring and sounds like Rajkumar Hirani’s previous films.
Once again a big actor, big director and big hype film leaves us disappointed.
Our overall rating: YAWN.
