We Dilliwalas love our “P”s be it pegs or parathas.
The new “P” that has entered our lives , and rightly so is proteins. Gym goer or not, given the high stress urban life we lead, protein is our life line, the backbone of our nutrition. Needless to say, protein is in vogue because of newly found health consciousness among Delhiites. The most popular protein brand that we all know as the go-to soluton is Protinex. A product from the house of Danone, it is a completely vegetarian source of protein. No wonder it has made easy entry to Indian households as a most essential health supplement.
We recently attended an informal session on this macro nutrient that cleared the air on proteins. The informative session was conducted by the renowned nutrition expert Kavita Devgan . The event was held at Cafe Delhi Heights, Hotel Diplomat, New Delhi.
The program was organised by Protinex to essentially launch Hydrolysed Protinex. Hydrolysed Protein is pre-digested version of protein where pre-digestion happens during manufacturing. Because of this phenomena, the body has to work lesser to digest proteins. We knew that protein is the most important nutritive element in our diet. What was news is consuming the necessary quantum of protein, on a daily basis, is not easy. While legumes, eggs, fish or chicken are known as sources of protein, they also contain fats that may not be good for the body. Proteinex does not contain any trans-fat and in fact provides many other nutrients that are good for the body.
Now Proteinex uses hydrolysed proteins instead of regular proteins and we came to know more about this during the event. Regular proteins are complex elements that need to be broken down by the body for being absorbed by the intestines. On the contrary, hydrolysed proteins, as we mentioned earlier on, are pre-digested and do not require any further splitting by the body. Consequently, it is easy to absorb hydroysed proteins than intact proteins found in pulses, egg-whites, chicken or fish. Given this benefit, hydrolysed proteins are more suitable for children or older people with weaker digestion. Hydrolysed proteins also expedite muscle recovery post work out sessions. That alone makes Proteinex fortified with hydrolysed proteins a must have for us.
Proteinex also released a protein calculator at the event. The protein calculator took stock of the protein consumed by the user during his/her various meals throughout the day. The calculator reflected the protein deficiency at day end which the user could compensate.
Another product that was launched was Protinex Bytes . These are protein supplement in biscuit form and is a fun way to consume protein. Apparently 4 to 5 biscuits are equivalent to one glass of Protinex dissolved in milk. Ain’t this cool or what! The session ended with a quiz session on proteins and we won a sleek pen drive by answering one of the questions correctly. This bit made us all smiles:)
