Rose Cafe was high on our to-do list for a very long time. Reason being the consistent positive rating and it is also featured in a lot of articles/blogs for its food and ambiance.

Since they wind up early we could not do it for a very long time. We finally went to Rose cafe on a Saturday evening. The cafe is located very close to Garden of Five Senses. We have been to Garden of Five Senses many times but never noticed this place. The cafe doesn’t have a prominent board or something and one can easily miss it.

As the name suggests, this place is all pink decor..like a ladies’ parlour – feminine in all senses of the word. Rose and floral printed settee…. pastel pink, mint green and sky blue shades, chintz printed crockery etc. They have a couple of tables outside in the backyard but since it was raining, we sat inside.

We ordered a House Breakfast from their all day breakfast menu. This had eggs sunny side up, baked beans, toast, mashed potato and bacon. We liked this food but we couldn’t help comparing their food to American Diner’s Sunrise Skillet which is our absolute all time favourite. This one was nice but not something that will linger on our minds or tastebuds for long. It looked like a dish that can be fixed at home with little effort.

Next we ordered pancakes that were served with butter and maple syrup. This was delicious.

We ended this early dinner with coffee and a slice of espresso cake. The cake was gooey and delicious but they warmed the cake and we do not like our cakes or brownies to be warm. When we mentioned this to the waiter he immediately replaced it with a fresh slice. Brownie points for this gesture. The service and hospitality overall is inviting.

We liked this experience and could see that this place was worth visiting for the food and relaxed vibe. Although it is a little pricey, we would surely recommend Rose Cafe for casual American dining. A word of caution – make table reservation before going and expect some waiting time.
