Venue: IGNCA, Janpath
Date: 24 December 2016
Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA) has been doing great work in the field of fine arts in Delhi NCR. They have recently started a series in music – Bhinn Shadj. They are bringing forth various maestros from the field of classical music to perform at their campus at Janpath.
Shruti Sadolikar, one of the leading names in the field of vocal music, especially khayal, was the artist on 24 December, 2016. Being Christmas eve, there was celebration all around. The new winter was tempting Delhiites to leave homes and make merry. Sadolikar lit up our Christmas celebrations with an amazing concert. For little more than an hour, she sang khayals and other light Hindustani classical numbers to a packed auditorium at IGNCA. She introduced each number with little anecdotes and the audience was enriched with these insights. Her melodious voice, the able support from the musicians and the fact that she stayed away from heavy classical numbers helped the audience enjoy the concert so much more. We personally felt that this great program was a befitting adieu to 2016!
IGNCA is planning one such concert every month under this series and they deserve a bow from us for such great endeavor. If you are a classical music aficionado or just curious, please keep visiting our listing page for details of the next performance under Bhinn Shadj.
