Sharbat and Itra Mela is being held at Dilli Haat INA Market. It is on only this weekend – 19th – 21st May, 2017. Given the parching weather, we headed to this event to quench our thirst for a cool summer.
It’s a great night for singing – The capital city minstrels
Capital City Minstrels are a Delhi based choir who have mesmerised us with stunning music over the years. They have performed in India and abroad and has popularised choir music in NCR. They have a show coming up and is a must do for any music enthusiast.
Aajeevika Mela at Pragati Maidan
Ajeevika Mela showcased rural women’s goods at Pragati Maidan’s Hall 18. Venue was air-conditioned, and entry was free.
Serendipity Arts Festival
Serendipity Arts Festival just concluded at Bikaner House. A host of traditional and modern painting and sculpture were displayed during the event. The program also included performing art events like theatre, storytelling and dance. The Festival was organised by the Serendipity Arts Trust.
Delhi Food Truck Festival
Food trucks are the latest trend in Delhi NCR food scene. Delhi Food Truck Festival brought many new and established food trucks under one roof for a two days food festival. Apart from some glitches the festival managed to offer fun time for Delhiites over some food, beer and rain dance over a very hot weekend.
The Old Delhi Food Festival – Delicacies from Purani Dilli
The Old Delhi Food Festival was held between 25 to 26 March, 2017 at India Islamic Cultural Centre. The venue was overflowing with diners and people driving down Lodhi Road faced the brunt. Nonetheless, we were happy to manage a parking spot and went in for a taste of famous food from old Delhi without travelling all the way to Chandni Chowk!
Elephant in the Room – Ganesha as we don’t know him – META 2017
Mahendra Excellence Theatre Awards (META) this year had a host of mind-numbing beautiful plays and the jury would have had a very tough time in selecting the winners. A particularly interesting piece was ‘Elephant in the Room’ a soliloquy created out of an interesting topic. It is a quirky twist to the familiar story of Ganesha’s losing his head due to his father’s wrath and having an elephant head attached instead!
Poetry Slam in Urdu
Urdu poetry and shayari have many takers in Delhi NCR. A Poetry Slam covering Urdu couplets was recently organised at Defence Colony. The informal evening was a most refreshing experience. We look forward to more such events.
