Date: 18-21 July
Venue: IHC
It’s a gala time for film lovers in Delhi. The High Commission of Canada and Habitat Film Club have collaborated to bring THE REEL CANADA, a bouquet of Canadian films for Delhi audience. Mark our words; since we don’t get to see too many films from this country sitting in Delhi, this is a rare treat. It is a 4-days festival, 18 – 21 July 2018 at India Habitat Centre. They are showing three feature films and a documentary during the event.
We attended the inaugural evening when thespian Sunit Tandon and High Commission of Canada in India, Nadir Patel addressed the audience. Given that Tandon from Habitat Film Club and Patel from the High Commission spoke so excitedly about cultural collaboration between India and Canada, we hope to see more Canadian films here.
The inaugural cinema was Meditation Park directed by Mina Shum. It was about an immigrant Chinese family settled in Canada and their balancing act between oriental and occidental values. It was simple yet appealing and no matter which culture one comes from, extremely relatable.
And that’s what makes a good piece of cinema. We look forward to encore of THE REEL CANADA as frequently as possible.
