Try Khadi Cafe for pocket friendly vegetarian quick bites in CP

Jun 26, 2018 | Eating out, Food

Date: 9 June 2018
Venue: Near Hanuman Mandir, CP

Khadi is expanding operations in all fields possible. They have opened an annexe, Khadi Haat, in the courtyard in front of Hanuman Mandir, Baba Kharag Singh Marg, Connaught Place. Bang opposite is now a Khadi Café, a food window with seating arrangement outside.

They are serving mostly snacky stuff and we tried their cheese toast and burger with potato patty. The freshly made mint chutney in the burger added a refreshing taste. It was drizzling outside (yeah – all nostalgia!) and we had multiple rounds of coffee and tea while enjoying the super cool weather. They also have some meal items on the menu but that is for another day.

We can’t say that the café is earth shattering. In fact, it doesn’t particularly reflect any special Khadi influence except that it is vegetarian. We would say Navdanya at Dilli Haat or Café Lota at Crafts Museum is more in tune with the Indian food ethos. In short, they have a lot of potential they should explore. What works for them is the location and the pricing. It is difficult to find many reasonably priced eating options at CP. Khadi Café is located very prominently and is in the access area of thousands of visitors to the Hanuman Mandir or thousands of pedestrians walking past that area. Their menu is moderately priced and thus most suitable for anyone who wants a bite or is looking for a place to sit, have something light and catch up with friends.

Khadi Café is a new beginning for sure and we hope they are going to grow leaps and bounds in terms of location as well as food variety.
