Let’s be honest. In Delhi NCR, eating vegetarian is never a problem. Eating good vegetarian food is easy. Eating gourmet, fine-dining vegetarian food – now that’s where the struggle begins.

Yes, we have our trusted names like Haldiram’s, Bikanerwala, and Heera Sweets. They are great for quick meals, family lunches, and old favourites. But what happens when you want something more refined? A place for a special occasion, a quiet celebration, an intimate dinner, or even a classy kitty party where the food needs to match the mood?

That’s where Tulsi Pure Vegetarian Restaurant in Gurgaon steps in – and honestly, fills a big gap in the Delhi NCR dining scene.

First Impressions: Elegant Indian Décor Done Right

Before the food arrived, the décor already had our attention.

Tulsi doesn’t try to be flashy or over-designed. Instead, it leans into Indian aesthetics – graceful peacock motifs, jharokha-inspired elements, and a warm, well-lit setting that feels premium yet comfortable. The lighting is soft, the seating spacious, and the overall vibe relaxed rather than stiff.

Everything – from the crockery to the table layout and seating arrangement – feels thoughtfully chosen. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, talk, and actually enjoy your meal without feeling rushed.

One small suggestion, though: we really wish they would replace plastic water bottles with elegant glass jugs that match the beautiful crockery and table setup. It would complete the experience perfectly.

While dining, we noticed a mix of families, couples, and large groups of women – most likely kitty groups – enjoying long, leisurely meals. That itself says a lot about the space. Tulsi feels welcoming for celebrations, group lunches, and special dinners, without being loud or chaotic.

A Thoughtful Welcome: Indian Amuse-Bouche Done Right

While we were still scanning the menu and debating what to order (because honestly, there’s too much temptation), the staff surprised us with a welcome snack – an Indian-style amuse-bouche.

It was called Mukharo – a soft piece of dhokla topped with a light layer of cheese and a fresh tomato–tulsi salsa. It arrived in a dish with smoke gently flowing out from all sides, instantly grabbing attention.

The flavours were clean, balanced, and comforting, with a lovely aromatic touch. Not heavy, not overpowering – just the perfect opening bite. More than anything, it set the tone for the entire meal. Thoughtful, refined, and clearly well-planned.

A welcome snack like this might seem like a small detail, but it says a lot about how seriously Tulsi takes the overall dining experience – and they absolutely nailed it.

Beverages with Drama: Mocktails That Steal the Show

We started with mocktails, and Tulsi clearly enjoys adding a bit of theatre to the experience.
The Pineapple Punch Kerala arrived with a smoky effect that instantly grabbed attention – not just visually, but also aromatically. Refreshing, tropical, and perfect as a palate opener.

The Rasmalai Frappe was another standout. Thick, creamy, and surprisingly filling, it felt more like a dessert in a glass. Sweet, indulgent, and ideal if you enjoy rich Indian flavours with a modern twist.

Starters: Familiar Yet Thoughtfully Done

For starters, we ordered a mix of classics – and each one delivered.

  • Paneer Cigar Rolls: Crisp on the outside, soft and flavourful inside. Perfectly fried without being greasy.
  • Tokri Chaat: Balanced and served in a small brass kadhai, with none of the usual overpowering sweetness. Every element stood out. Though we wish the portion size was a little bigger. This was almost finished just by tasting.

  • Veg Kebab Platter: A great variety for the table, especially if you’re dining in a group. The platter had dahi kebabs, paneer tikka, Corn kebabs, soya malai chaap with salad. The kebabs rested on a bed of papad crumbles.

A special mention goes to the dips served with the starters. Often treated as an afterthought, these dips were full of flavour and complemented the food beautifully. Don’t skip them.

Mains: Comfort Food with Depth

The main course is where Tulsi truly shines.

Sabz Dum Biryani

This one deserves its own paragraph. The biryani arrived piping hot in a sealed degchi, which was opened right in front of us. As soon as the seal was broken, the aroma filled the restaurant – and honestly, it was hard not to smile. The biryani was filling, fragrant, and perfectly cooked, making it ideal for sharing.

Jodhpuri Gatte Ki Sabzi

Rich, earthy, and deeply satisfying. This dish stayed with us long after the meal. The gate were so tender and delicious that we made ah sound with every bite. We wonder why no missi roti in breads menu? That would have been a perfect combo with the dish.

Raat Bhar Ki Dal Makhni

Slow-cooked, creamy, and comforting. Exactly what dal makhni should be. We paired it with breads and couldn’t get enough.

Lehsuni Khumb Palak

The undisputed hero of the meal. Bold garlic notes, earthy mushrooms, and spinach cooked just right. With stuffed kulcha, this dish completely stole the show. Simple flavours, executed perfectly.

Breads That Hold Their Own

We tried three different breads, and each one had its own personality:

  • Stuffed Kulcha – Soft, flavourful, and the perfect partner to rich gravies
  • Hari Mirch Parantha – A gentle heat that added interest without overpowering
  • Chilli Cheese Naan – Indulgent, slightly spicy, and very satisfying

Desserts: Ending on a Sweet Note

Desserts were indulgent but not overwhelming.

  • Gulkand Phirni – Fragrant, soothing, and a lovely Indian-style finish
  • Shahi Toast – Rich, comforting, and ideal for those who enjoy traditional desserts

And then came the final surprise – the complimentary mouth freshener. Honestly, it was so good that it felt unfairly free. This is one of those small details that quietly elevate the entire experience.

Menu Highlights & What’s Next

One thing that really impressed us is how extensive the menu is. There’s so much to choose from, including ingredients rarely seen in vegetarian fine dining – like colocasia (arbi) and other regional preparations.

Also worth mentioning: Tulsi serves Jain vegetarian dishes, prepared without onion and garlic. This makes it an excellent choice for diners with specific dietary preferences, without compromising on flavour.
