Weekend Brunch Home Delivered – Flying Sunday Brunch from ITC Sheraton Delhi

Sep 8, 2020 | Food

One of the best pre-corona activities we miss is eating out. We especially crave for the weekend brunches that we would have at fancy places. It would fill us with bliss for at least 2 to 3 hours. Given that many of us are still hesitant in going out of home for leisure,  ITC Sheraton New Delhi has done something that is wise and thoughtful. They have introduced the Flying Sunday Brunch.

What is the greatest success that we achieved as Delhi-Fun-Dos? We have created fun memories. Our memories of good times are working overtime as motivation during corona.

Given the COVID 19 situation, it is still not safe to be free or footloose wherever one is in India. Plus we have elders and children at home and we cannot be cavalier about their health as well. That said we as food enthusiasts miss eating out. Be it street food of fancy celebrations, we crave for all.

Hospitality industry during corona has taken a terrible beating. Yet, like the proverbial Phoenix, they are rising from the ashes. Necessity is the mother of invention they say and the corona crisis has given birth to innovative ways. Plus things have been looking up for Delhi NCR.  Hotels and restaurants have opened with a host of safety measures and are trying their best to serve the rare diners they get.  In comparison, home delivery of food has surged like never before. Many diners are preferring to order in and relish their favourite food in the safety of their homes. After all good food is good mood they say.

Talking about good food, some of our cherished food memories are about weekend brunches. There was a time when come Sunday, we would scour the five-star hotels and hit a Sunday brunch. The 2 to 3 hours we would spend at the brunch room would be bliss. We were missing the variety of Sunday brunches like never before. It seems the universe heard us.

ITC Sheraton, New Delhi, is not just delivering regular dishes but the whole Sunday brunch at the diner’s doorstep. We understand that they have a “We Assure” program to guarantee minimal exposure from food preparation to delivery so that their customers get the best and safe experience. Buoyed by their commitment, we had their Sunday brunch delivered last weekend.

And once we received the delivery, we were pretty impressed with their safety standard. The brunch items were packed nicely in sturdy and trendy designed boxes. Each dish was packed separately in easy to handle containers and multiple dishes were placed in bigger boxes to minimize exposure. There was no dripping… not a drop and the food stayed fresh for long. All the containers were clearly labeled marked with the name of the dish. Non-vegetarian items were packed together and vegetarian and non-vegetarian items had green and red dots.

In fact, the spread was a fine balance of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. From appetizers like Delhi Chaat to vegetarian and non -vegetarian starters such as Hara Bhara Kabab, tikkas, Galouti kababs, our taste buds jumped in joy with great food memories. The next course comprised a medley of dishes from various cuisines. There were Italian pasta and pizza, Chinese noodles, fish in black bean sauce, chilli chicken; Thai green curry with jasmine rice was one of our favorite items from the brunch.

And of course, a true blue Delhiite’s all time favourite North Indian food items such as butter chicken, nihari, mutton rogan josh, mirchi saalan, sabz diwani handi, paneer angara etc were well received by the whole family. There were unique surprises of novel dishes like Paneer Lavang Lata.  A choice of breads was packed on the side.

There were some fruit tarts and cheese cake slices from Continental desserts. Every item was great quality and it was all “soul food”. We called it a day after gulab jamun, perhaps our favourite Indian dessert. Needless to say, we were thanking our stars that it was Sunday.

After all, what’s a buffet without indulgence, without some overeating and guilt conscience that come with it. Moreover, the brunch came after a hiatus of almost half a year so no we are no way unhappy.  Rather, in these tough times, well cooked, home delivered,  Flying Sunday Brunch provided a much needed respite and an opportunity to not miss luxuries like weekend brunch just because of movement restrictions. Come to think of it, the Flying Sunday Brunch had an advantage than dine-in. When we would go to a restaurant for Sunday brunches, often times someone in the family would be feeling lazy or would have some other engagement and hence not accompany. Given that we had the brunch delivered at home, the whole family could enjoy it together, and yes, we created fresh memories.

Last but not the least, we were a bit skeptical as to whether a packed Sunday brunch would be as sumptuous as the spread at a five-star. Fret not, even the Flying Sunday Brunch from Sheraton has sufficient quality to stuff yourself to the limit in terms of food, courage and optimism. In that process, you create fun memories that help you tide over difficult times.

Note: The cost of the brunch is Rs. 1799+tax for veg and Rs. 1999+tax for nonveg brunch. The order has to be placed by Saturday evening. Kindly confirm with the hotel or delivery app for any price update before ordering.

ITC group of hotels has the best food, I believe. I have been to ITC grand Maratha as well as ITC Grand Central, Mumbai, both have mouth-watering and delicious food servings.. Especially their Dum Pukt Biryani is a must to taste …

The food looks so delicious. Looks properly cooked as well. Post Covid, a lot of people would prefer home delivered food. I would want to try the Flying Sunday Brunch someday.

Their brunch looks so good, I love that they offer gulab jamun as well – I wouldn’t have expected that. Since the pandemic I started to buy breakfasts from a nearby hotel as well. It’s so nice when you can get a nice cooked hotel meal from time to time. It’s like traveling again.
