We can’t get enough of Connaught Place. There is no end to new restaurants-cafe launches in Connaught Place.

We recently dined at 38 Barracks on a Friday evening. Barracks are buildings to house soldiers. The restaurant has a military theme – an army man’s house. Interestingly they have not pushed the theme too much to interfere with overall dining experience. There was a young band singing some Bollywood numbers on guitar on the first floor where we sat.

It’s a noisy restaurant with a very positive vibe and staff, exuberating with energy. Very apt for housing thirsty life soldiers any evening.

We started with cocktails and hookah. From the cocktails we loved “Wise man“. It was a scotch based cocktail with bitterness of coffee and subtle hint of fresh mint leaves. We had a few usual starters like Paneer tikka barrels, chicken satay and Chicken duet tikka etc and a couple of unique starters like Spanakopitaspinach and feta puffs. Highly recommended for vegetarians. Another starter that stood out from the rest was smoked barbecued sausages. So good, we had another helping of this.

From main course we opted for tiger prawns. But they were out of prawns so we had Salmon and a pomfret fish. Served with sauteed vegetables, some broth and butter lemon sauce both these dishes were outstanding. We loved every bite of these.

They have an extensive food menu with a long list of starters and mains but looks like dessert section was a little sidelined. We asked for a red velvet and Baked rasgulla pie. They were out of Red Velvet and we had Brownie and vanilla ice cream along with the pie. Desserts were alright but not as good as rest of the fair.

Well that saved us some calories and we can’t complain as the food, drinks and awesome service by the waiting staff left us happy and totally satiated. We see ourselves visiting this outlet again some time soon.
