Venue: Club Road, Punjabi Bagh
Punjabi Bagh restaurant cluster is getting bigger and better. There is a Nando’s outlet on North West Avenue Road now. When we visited this place on a busy week evening, the first break was the reserved parking. A valet took our care key and that was a relief otherwise parking on this road is nothing less than a feat.
The restaurant is on the upper ground floor with a cosy nook waiting area on the ground floor. While one can see the busy road from the glass wall, the soft lights and spacious seating arrangement inside soothes frenzied nerves. A host of contemporary paintings hang from the walls. The menu cards have colourful Africa themed paintings printed on the cover.
We are familiar with Nando’s food due to our visits at their Cyberhub outlet. Not being very high on spices we mostly opt for their minimum peri peri or lime and herb seasoning. Our Chicken Butterfly (grilled chicken breast, Espetada and Nandocas Choice burger were fortified with this seasoning. Yummy as every, these were a protein hunter’s delight. To balance the meal, we ordered a quinoa salad. A combination of a lot of elements, with mild dressing, this could in turn be a weight watcher’s delight. As sides, we had coleslaw, grilled vegetables and beautifully fried potato wedges.
The desserts were a surprise this time. We had a slice of Choco Raspberry Cake that was a unique combo of sweet-tangy-chocolatey. But the surprise was Natas, a Portuguese custard with cinnamon. Served in a tart, Natas melted in the mouth filling us with a lot of emotions and bringing back nostalgia from mother’s kitchen.
No wonder Nando’s is our safe fun-do, they never disappoint.
