Hail the girl power. Taking matters in her hand, by being a producer as well as the lead actor in film NH10, Anushka Sharma left us wide eyed, open jawed and helplessly in love with her.

It’s undoubtedly the best movie of 2015 as of now. Based on a simple story of a couple who witnessed and interfered in an honor killing, the movie turned into a classic in “Is raat ki subah nahi” genre. (If we may call it a genre… Well we can… There are quite a few films based on story of events happening in just one night… )

NH10 is not for the faint hearted. The movie is gory with a lot of violence, brutality and blood, but not mindless at all. The night for this couple and the movie for the audiences gets darker and darker with every passing hour. The film is so “edge of the seat” your bum starts hurting by the end of it. One can literally feel the heartbeat racing, blood pumping and the mind praying for the couple to get some help on this dreadful highway.

Anushka Sharma is on top of her game. Deepti Naval was fantastic. The bunch of villains makes you wanna hate them from the bottom of your heart. Background music is A++ and direction by Navdeep Singh is awe inspiring. The film has shades of Dibakar Banerjee’s Love, Sex aur Dhokha that we loved, but NH10 takes it to a completely different and a much higher level.

Despite all the violence and the fact that the film doesn’t have any Bollywood masala at all, It entertains. It breaks our heart to see 80% of the seats empty. We must watch and appreciate quality cinema or else we’ll be stuck with films like PK.

NH10 raised the bar for Bollywood films and for Anushka Sharma, who we now believe is much more than just a pretty actress.
