Om Sweets is tremendously popular in Delhi and Gurgaon for their Dhoda Barfi. We know of people who get this sweet packed in kilos and take it abroad. Reason is simple – there is no other sweet maker who can match up to their taste and quality. But Om Sweets is much more than just Dhoda Barfi. They have a quick service vegetarian restaurant on first floor of their Tilak Nagar outlet where they serve pure vegetarian food. The cuisine is North Indian, South Indian, desi Chinese and street food.

We have dined at this place in the past and never been disappointed. Recently while we were in Tilak Nagar for some work, we went to Om Sweets for lunch. Thank heavens for their parking staff who manage this duty very well, otherwise parking is hell in this area.

Another good thing is No Self Service. They serve you on your table so that you don’t have to queue up to order and then go to each counter to get your food. We have started preferring vegetarian restaurants like Om Sweets, Gulabwala, Imly, Bell peppers and Indus flavourover Haldiram and Bikaner for this reason.

The menu has a few options from each category and is not very tough to decide. We ordered a Spring Roll, Dahi Bhalla, Garlic Rava Dosa and Chowmein. Spring rolls were the best – piping hot and delicious. Dahi Bhalla was subtle in taste while chowmein was a little too spicy for us. Garlic rava dosa was crispy, crunchy and delicious.

On our way out we stopped for Gol Gappe too but we realised this street food tastes best on streets. We could not have more than 2 pieces. The stuff was not nice and the guy at the Gol Gappe counter was super lazy. Best avoided.

Brownie points for the lift facility here. We saw a group of old men (looked like laughter club members or morning walk friends from the neighbourhood), all in their 80s, celebrating a Birthday Party here. This small, service lift, made it possible for the elderly to go to first floor and dine and celebrate. Big thumbs up.

Overall it was a good vegetarian lunch option in west Delhi. Delicious, pocket friendly, convenient  and one of the best in this area.
