Ankhon Dekhi – Seeing is believing
Indian Express film club held a screening of Ankhon Dekhi, a 2014 Hindi film by Rajat Kapoor. It revolves around the life of a middle aged family man and his principle of “Seeing is believing”. It is a new age film sans glamour and item songs and most definitely deserves a watch.
Ramzaan Special – Dinner at Karim’s
The foodies of Delhi (or outside) routinely flock Old Delhi (Jama Masjid area) during Ramzan to taste Mughlai food. Karim’s perhaps is the most popular joint in this league. However, there are a plethora of other eateries. In addition to Mughlai food, a variety of local breads with cream, jelly and coconut stuffing; sewaiyan; desserts such as Shahi Tukra and Anarasa and interestingly brewed milk tea with cream topping are must trys.
Inside out – Emotions in motion
An animated film about the core feelings /emotions of an eleven year old girl Riley. Her feelings work among each other to guide Riley’s thought and actions. If you are parent, take your child along. If not, watch this film alone just to know yourself a little better.
Jurassic World: Lot of technology, very little magic
The fourth film in the Jurassic Park series fails to create the magic of the earlier Jurassic Park films. However the computer graphics are impressive and the dinosaur sightings still draw awws and oos from kids. Steven Spielberg is a producer here and we miss his directorial magic in the film.
Nando’s – Peri Peri Chicken and more…
Nando’s is a causal dining international restaurant chain known for their chicken preparations in peri peri sauce. They have a few restaurants in NCR and we tried the Cyberhub outlet. Thoroughly satisfied, we strongly recommend this place to non-vegetarians who are willing to explore beyond butter chicken.
Double Bill Performance – A contemporary dance show
Japan Foundation, in association with Gati Dance Forum, recently organized a contemporary dance performance by Takao Kawaguchi from Japan and Surjit Nongmeikapam from Manipuri. The abstract performance coupled with the simple seating arrangement and the opportunity of connecting with others in the audience was a most refreshing experience.

Things to do in Delhi Summer – Sharbat Mela – A Cool Festival
Sharbat Mela is a cool and very apt festival in Scorching Delhi Summer. A lot of small and big scale manufacturers of Sharbat, Kulfi and Shake mixes exhibit here and provide samplers for people to taste and buy. It’s a cool and fun way to beat the heat.
A Light in the Fog – An Iranian film
An Iranian film that revolves around the life of a single middle aged woman who lives with her ailing father who repairs lanterns. Mundane as it sounds the director has juxtaposed this simple narrative on an idyllic snow- covered fog laden mountain setting. With very few dialogues this film, it is a meditative journey about hope.
“Couple Trouble” featuring Kashmira Shah had more than a couple of troubles
A forgettable play that attempts to ride solely on the physical appeal of Kashmira Shah. Audience deserves better and we would not recommend this play even if the tickets are distributed free of cost.
Viva O’ Viva – A taste of Goan Food in Delhi
Viva-O-Viva at Goa Niwas (Chanakyapuri) offers a predominantly non-vegetarian Goan menu. It you are a seafood buff this place is worth a shot for its simplicity and value for money.
Sakae Sushi: Exploring Japanese food beyond Sushi
Sakae Sushi at Ambiance Mall, Vasant Kunj serves Sushis and many other Japanese starters, main course, drinks and dessert. If you are hunting for Japanese restaurants in NCR, this is a decent choice for its variety, peaceful ambiance and decent service.
Tanu Weds Manu Returns: Return of the Mediocrity
A sequel to the earlier Tanu Weds Manu, this film is doing very well at the theatres. The writer/director’s attempt to get applause by cheeky one liners is disappointing, but one can watch this film for the super acting of Kangana Ranaut.
Spaghetti Kitchen – New Menu
Spaghetti Kitchen has introduced a new menu, adding more authenticity to their Italian fare. We recently tried their new menu and it gets a thumbs-up from us. We would recommend their Gurgaon outlet as this is a fine dining experience without a major dent on the wallet.
Mama’s Day – A nursery cum cafe out of nowhere
Mama’s Day is a nursery cum cafe at Gwalpahari on Gurgaon Faridabad Road. One can stop for a cup of tea and some quick bites if they are driving from one of these places to another.
