Collectors as Custodians – The Journey of Classical Indian Art

“Collectors as Custodians – The Journey of Classical Indian Art”, a panel discussion on 6th March 2026 at 6:30 pm at Kalamkaar, Bikaner House, New Delhi followed by the preview from 6th- 9th March 2026.
The conversation explores the evolving role of collectors as cultural trustees and features senior collector Mr. Adarsh Saran and Maharaja Aishwarya Chandra Katoch of Lambagraon (Kangra), moderated by scholar and collector Mr. Jayesh Mathur.
The panel anchors a distinguished preview of Classical Indian Art (6–9 March 2026), presenting a carefully curated selection of rare paintings, sculpture, Indian silver, and jewellery drawn from a corpus of 148 works.
The preview spans sacred, courtly, and decorative traditions, with highlights including 18th-century Pahari Ramayana paintings, a rare Radha–Krishna work attributed to Faqirullah Khan from the Mughal court, an early Vishnu bronze (8th/9th century, Himachal Pradesh), and a Kushan sandstone lion from Mathura (2nd/3rd century AD).
The Delhi showcase precedes the major Classical Indian Art auction to be held on 16 March 2026 at the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai.
