Songs of the Stone Returns to Qutub Minar | Rakesh Chaurasia Live in Delhi
The second chapter of Songs of the Stone, returns with a luminous musical evening at Qutub Minar on Sunday, 8 March 2026. Conceptualised by Simar Malhotra and presented in collaboration with HSBC Live the Legacy, this immersive cultural experience brings Grammy-winning flautist Rakesh Chaurasia and his ensemble to one of India’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage sites for a rare, site-specific performance.
On the evening of 8 March 2026, two-time Grammy Award-winning bansuri maestro Rakesh Chaurasia, along with his ensemble Rakesh and Friends, will transform the historic Qutub Minar complex into a living stage of sound and story.
Carrying forward the legacy of his guru and uncle, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, while expanding the instrument’s global vocabulary, Chaurasia is known for his lyrical depth and refined technique. Joined by acclaimed musicians on tabla, drums, bass, guitar, and keys, the performance will weave Hindustani classical traditions with global musical influences, creating a sonic journey that resonates across generations.
Rooted in the belief that monuments are living repositories of memory and imagination rather than static relics, the series invites audiences to experience heritage sensorially and emotionally. Through carefully staged performances within historic sites, it transforms architecture into an active participant- where sound, light, atmosphere, and storytelling converge.
Beyond iconic landmarks, the long-term vision of Songs of the Stone is to travel to lesser-known and overlooked heritage sites across India, restoring their relevance through contemporary cultural programming and positioning tradition as aspirational and globally resonant for younger audiences.
