Dastan-e-Guru Dutt by Fouzia Dastango at International Film Festival of Delhi 2026
As part of its vibrant cultural programming, the International Film Festival of Delhi 2026 (IFFD) presents a special evening of Dastangoi titled “Dastan-e-Guru Dutt” by acclaimed dastangoi Fouzia Dastango at Bharat Mandapam. Curated under IFFD’s “Cultural Evenings” segment, this unique performance pays tribute to legendary filmmaker Guru Dutt, weaving together cinema, memory, and the rich tradition of dastangoi. Through the evocative art of dastangoi, Fouzia Dastango brings alive the poetic world, creative struggles, and timeless legacy of Guru Dutt, offering audiences an immersive cultural experience. The research for Dastan-e-Guru Dutt has been undertaken by Ms. Asha Batra, Founder of Cinemaazi, a private digital archive and research centre on Indian cinema, while the production is supported by Vikas Jalan.

About Fouzia Dastango
Fouzia Dastango is India’s first female Dastango and a pioneering artist who has revived and redefined the centuries-old oral storytelling tradition of Dastangoi for contemporary audiences. At a time when this classical Urdu narrative form was fading and largely male-dominated, she emerged as a powerful voice, reclaiming the stage and restoring dignity and dynamism to this rich cultural heritage.
