The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) is proud to announce its inaugural KNMA Theatre Festival, a groundbreaking event from its Performing Arts department. Set against the scenic backdrop of Sunder Nursery, New Delhi’s historic heritage park, the festival will take place from October 14-20, 2024. This marks KNMA’s first foray into the contemporary theatre scene, with an ambitious lineup of performances, workshops, and discussions.
Curated by renowned Bengaluru-based actor, director, and filmmaker Kirtana Kumar, the festival’s theme, ‘The Power of Vulnerability,’ will spotlight contemporary theatre’s role in addressing key societal issues such as class, religion, gender, sexuality, and location. Audiences will be invited to explore how vulnerability can inspire connection and transformation in the post-pandemic world.
The festival opens on October 14 with a riveting performance of Beesu Kamsale, a traditional Kannada folk form that involves ritualistic acrobatics. This performance is led by Sri M. Lingaiah and presented by the Karnataka Janapada Kamsale Kalavidara Sangha from Bengaluru.
