DAG presents Princes & People of India: Portraits by Emily Eden, a landmark art exhibition offering a fresh look at one of the most remarkable visual records of nineteenth-century India.
Curated by Mary Ann Prior, the exhibition revisits Emily Eden’s celebrated portraits of the princes and people she encountered in India. Together, the works create a vivid picture of a society in transition and offer fascinating glimpses into the personalities, attire, and social world of the period.
The exhibition is the first major presentation in India dedicated to Emily Eden (1797–1869), an artist, writer, and keen observer whose works hold a distinctive place in the visual history of the Indian subcontinent.
