This summer in Delhi is just not getting better and we are forever looking for options to get away from the heat. Given its proximity and multiple modes of transport, Jim Corbett National Park has emerged as our go to place this season. We have stayed at a couple of places and Golden Tusk Resort here is among our favourite spots for a host of reasons. Their pool dining is one such reason but apart from this unique activity there is a lot more to do here.

They are an extremely hospitable bunch of folks who always ensure that we are comfortable and engaged. Visit to the National Park is the core activity in this region and Golden Tusk organises these trips as well as offers experienced naturalists to accompany the visitors. In addition to that there are a host of activities that we engage inside the vast resort.

They have couple of swimming pools for various age groups of swimmers as well as degrees of proficiency. We ordinarily stick to the main swimming pool for taking a couple of laps as well as simply soaking our city-tired bodies. The adjacent pools are smaller, less deep and suitable for children, beginners or non swimmers who just want to relax and enjoy some hydrotherapy. The swimming desk has a wide supply of swimming trunk and goggles. So even if we forget to carry swim gear, we are not deprived of this pleasure.

Post swimming we almost always land up at their spa-Golden flower. They have trained therapists who give us amazing massages. During our last trip, we tried the deep tissue massage and Kerala style body massage “Abhayangam”. The experiences were most rejuvenating and the one hour sessions prepared us for our Delhi days ahead. We followed up the messages with steam baths and felt detoxed and new!

In the evening we went bicycling inside the vast property as well as the village outside. During this ride we came across a host of new trees, birds and insects that we had never seen earlier. The naturalist accompanying us helped in identifying the species. Moreover, the photographer in us was most delighted.

If you would want to try something adventurous, Golden Tusk offers that too. They have installed a zipline inside the premise and you can experience this sport. Given the short distance and the safety arrangements that they have in place ziplining here is suitable for all.

Golden Tusk also has some other activities for kids and kids at heart. They organise pebble painting sessions and not only children but also adults seem to enjoy their time with pebbles, oil colour and paint brushes. Curious to see what was in it, we tried this activity. In no time we were most engaged. Pebble painting was very relaxing and took us back to our childhood. The result of this activity was host of “art” works such as unshapely watermelon, fish and profile of a man. These creations now occupy pride of place as paperweights at home.

To sum it up, Golden Tusk guys give you space. The space to engage in relaxing activities, or just rest inside the room, or laze in the sprawling lawns outside. Looking back, Golden Tusk could be a great option for solo-travellers who are looking to spending time with themselves in quiet surroundings and yet have the choice for some activity.

For us, Golden Tusk was a wholesome experience. We engaged in nature walks, swimming and other sports, relaxed through spas and massages and slept to our heart’s happiness. And not to mention Golden Tusk Resort staff’s amazing hospitality which could be the sole reason that brings us back here time and again.

Summer in Delhi is better than summer in Bengal. I have spent half my life in Delhi I was happy and here way too hot and humid. But coming to the point Jim Corbet is a lovely place to visit. I have many memories of that place

Pebble painting is a good idea. It keeps the kids occupied. And they have a good green area too. Overall a fun resort.

I would spend my time at the spa too because who doesn’t want a great massage? The heat has been really awful where we live too so hot that the pools are warm too!
