Sunder Nagar Diwali mela is rather a antithesis to the blind school Diwali fair. Although these happen on overlapping weekend and are at utter close proximity, the flavors are very different.
The Sunder Nagar mela is more of a fun fair with giant wheels, chuski wallas and even a dance stage.
The fair also carries the regular stuff – clothes, ornaments, decor items, another nick-knacks. The displays are less arty and more colorful with bling.
Incidentally we were quite amused to see almost every girl sporting tiaras made of artificial flowers. It seem as if the fairies have lost their way and descended here.
The crowd here seem to prefer the gamut of games over shopping.
The entry to the fair was done up with marigold flower chains. Complete with huge wood Ganesh carving, Dholwallas and a priest. It made a perfect setting for an Indian marriage.
We will specially mention free tables n chairs that were laid at the center of the fair. We and many other visitors rejuvenated ourselves by resting there for a while.

Today is 24th October 2016 so is the sunder nagar Diwali mela over or something will still go on today? I’m thinking of going today. Please let me know asap
H, Sundar Nagar mela got over yesterday. Sunday was the last day. You can visit Blind School Diwali mela instead. This mela is on till 27th and is nearby Sundar Nagar.
