Motilal Nehru, the father to our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi’s grandfather, had bought the mansion Anand Bhavan in Allahabad as his family home. This mansion made its place in history as it became the local headquarter for Indian National Congress and saw many luminaries such as Gandhiji, Tagore, and Sarojini Naidu spend time here. Ranthambore School of Art is an art school, exhibition and gallery all in a small single story house. While we had heard about this place, given the very little publicity they do, locals were not very aware of this place. Nonetheless, we figured it out and we are glad we did. To start – it is indeed an offbeat activity in Ranthambore.

We came to know about Andretta in terms of the pottery studio here – Andretta Pottery. Did you know that there is a proper marshland off Noida? Its the Okhla Bird Sanctuary that is home to about 200 species if migratory birds from autumn to winter. Once inside we were almost transported to scenes from Africa. Ornithologist Mr. Singh took us on a bird walk inside the sanctuary and showed us many species. It made waking up early on a winter morning so worthwhile!
Most of us know Macao for the casino Venetian. But there is lot more here. Pristine beaches, Portuguese and Chinese culture and great food – different yet very friendly with Indian taste buds. Macao Tourism oriented us to all this between 30th November and 2nd December 2018 during their exhibition at CyberHub, Gurgaon. We dropped by and saw a new side to Macao unfolding before our eyes.

We had been invited to visit the Tigarth Art Festival across Himachal Pradesh. In this process we met Frank Schlichtmann, the curator of the art project In the Woods-2 or ITW-2. He also runs a lodge 4Rooms and a cafe 4Tables at Gunehar. But there is a lot more happening here. We are plain lucky that we got to witness Frank’s mind blowing work in bringing together the diverse concepts of art and hospitality.

We have heard of poetry. But In The Woods – 2 brings us ‘poetree’. This is an art exhibition with a difference. Amidst the jungles of Bir in Himachal, a certain Frank Schlichtmann has curated art that is not to hang on the wall or display in hotel lobby. It is to experience through eyes, ears and the other senses.Example – ‘poetree’ are trees in Bir forest that recite poetry or play music. Only if you want to listen.
We were looking for a staycation place not very far from Delhi. Our prayers were answered in Shikwa Heritage Homestay. Shikwa Haveli is a heritage property at Katha village in Uttar Pradesh.
