Performing Belief Art Exhibition at Kalakaar Art Salon
Performing Belief is a thoughtfully curated group exhibition that explores the idea of ritual beyond religion—as memory, repetition, material, and lived experience. Curated by Rahul Kumar, the exhibition brings together works by 22 artists spanning modern, folk, tribal, and contemporary practices.
Featuring celebrated names including S. H. Raza, F. N. Souza, M. F. Husain, Sohan Qadri, G. R. Santosh, Jamini Roy, and Haku Shah, alongside contemporary voices, the exhibition examines how artistic practices are shaped by mythology, folk traditions, collective memory, and cultural inheritance. It also explores how present-day artists reinterpret these themes through ideas of migration, ecology, gender, urbanisation, and identity.
Marking the first exhibition under Kalakaar Art Salon’s renewed curatorial direction, Performing Belief creates a dialogue between historical and contemporary artistic practices, offering visitors a deeper perspective on the evolving role of ritual in Indian art.
