India Art Fair 2013

Venue: NSIC Exhibition Grounds, in Okhla

Orgasm happens in all forms. Arousing in a way, the fair had a peculiar flavour. The India Art Fair, for the last couple of years, brings to Delhi an esoteric presentation where various galleries from India and overseas flex their collection of art – in any form.

The canvas of India Art Fair 2013 has different strokes. Traditional to contemporary, oil on canvas to LCDs, paintbrush to Photoshop, sculpture to installations, so on and so forth.

One can not but awe at the wide interpretation that “ART” has stepped up to. Take this – An igloo made of black boots emerging out of the boot of a black leather covered ambassador car, had a table and two chairs inside. The table doubled as a screen for two pair of awkward arms which possibly represented invisible people at the table. This must be seen to understood.

It’s heartening to see that alongside Hussains and Razas, the modern designers working with paint brush or computer also qualify as artists, doing their own thing and creating new forms of art and expression.

The visitors of the India Art Fair are no less interesting. They comprised of enthusiasts, socialites, see-I-am-into-art kinds, collectors – private and professional and students. All in their artsy best, they added to the gaiety and glamor of the fair. It reinforces the often quoted expression – “ART IN LIFE”

Cheers to that!!
