India Design ID 2018
is a four-day long exhibition, 22nd to 25th February, 2018 at NSIC Grounds, Okhla. We attended the media preview on 21st February and saw a variety of fantastic home / office decor and design elements and ideas. With a mix of over 100 established and upcoming designers and brands showcasing their new designs and collections, it is a place to see the latest design trends in India and abroad. Notwithstanding you are traditionalist or prefer modernism – its an opportunity to soak in some great design as well as attend presentations and symposiums in connection thereto.

We were invited to the preview of this event and when we reached, the first thing that impressed was the full parking. It is obvious that people take design way more seriously now than in the last decade.

The three marquees inside had a host of stalls by Indian as well as foreign designers. Starting from traditional carpets and kilims to sofas, chairs, beds to fancy kitchens complete to the t, the place had it all. There was a special display of Sabyasachi’s works in cornsilk yellow, a favoured shade for 2018. We loved the light designs the best. They had the whole gamut from traditional chandeliers to industrial looking sleep hanging lamps to bespoke quirky designs with lights come out of most unexpected places. The children’s room decor stalls oozed cuteness and drew a lot of visitors. Some artists and art galleries were also displaying painting and sculptures. But for that we always cover India Art Fair.

India Design ID is a hotspot for celeb spotting as well – what with Suniel Shetty, Neena Gupta, Nisha Singh, designer Shantanu and many others in attendance.

Park Plaza was the beverage partner and we tasted some excellent canape and dinner items served on the preview evening. The other pop ups here are Le Meridein, Flury’s and so on. All in all this is a wholesome activity that seemed to appeal to most visitors.

While we are struggling with Theatre Olympics at NSD and other events, we are glad we could make it to the India Design ID 2018, the Fun-DO of the week.
